Day of Thanks #30

Today I am thankful for friendship.  I have had some friends since preschool, and others for a year or so.  God has used all of them to bless my life in their own special way.

Day of Thanks #29

Today, I am thankful for the opportunity to live in a small town.  I often wish some of my favorite spots (Target, Panera, Moe's, LOFT, etc.) were less than a 30 minute drive away, but I do love most aspects of small-town life.  One of the best parts of living here is the way our town celebrates Christmas.  How can you not feel festive when...
...you drive past the seasonal ice skating rink on the square?
...the courthouse is lit up beautifully every night from mid-November through early January?
...the inflatable snow slides are parked next to the bank ATM?

Day of Thanks #28

I am thankful for Goody's headache powder and Coca-Cola. That being said, I am most thankful for the handsome man who used his lunch hour to purchase these items and rescue this damsel in (migraine) distress.

Day of Thanks #27

I am thankful for Sarah Young's book, Jesus Calling, today.  The amazing way she interprets Scripture and presents it as if the Lord is speaking directly to me touches my heart on a daily basis.  He IS always speaking directly if only I will listen.  From today's devotion:
"Each time you receive one of My golden gifts, let your thankfulness sing out praises to My name.  'Hallelujahs' are the language of heaven, and they can become the language of your heart."
Oh, how I want to speak "Hallelujah-ese".

Day of Thanks #26

Fifteen years ago today, I was slightly nervous, VERY excited, and extremely large.  I was pumped full of drugs all day, puffy and uncomfortable.  Finally, at 11:27 p.m., the sweet little reason for my long day arrived.  I am so thankful for Ashton Elizabeth today.  She loves her family and friends, she loves to explore new places and new ideas, and most of all, she loves her Savior.  She is one of my greatest blessings.  Happy 15th birthday, sweet girl!

Days of Thanks #17-25 :)

We were in Florida for Thanksgiving, so I wasn't online much...here are my missing days of thankfulness:
Day #17-Thankful for road trips with my family, for my husband's willingness to drive the entire trip down, and for the quality time with all of us together in one place, albeit a vehicle.
Day #18-Thankful I was able to enjoy certain things I miss about Florida; time with family, a beautiful sunset over the Gulf, and my favorite homemade garden burger from Gulf Drive Cafe (YUM).
Day #19-Thankful my husband was able to spend time with the kids while I worked for three days in my office in FL.
Day #20-Thankful for my Jonas Alan.  He makes me laugh like no one else.  He has a great sense of humor, but he also has a compassionate heart, and I am looking forward to how God's purpose is going to unfold in his life.

Day #21-Thankful my work week was over on this day.  It was hectic, and I needed a break.
Day #22-Thankful for family celebrations.
Day #23-Thankful for a day to enjoy leftovers and relax.
Day #24-Thankful for safe travel, and for the warmth of our own bed.
Day #25-Thankful for the season of advent.  Looking forward to once again, taking a closer look at the events surrounding our Savior's birth.

Day of Thanks #16

I am thankful for words of appreciation ("Good dinner, honey), feelings of accomplishment (finding the bottom of the laundry baskets), and the air of anticipation (looking forward to our sixteen-hour road trip this weekend).

Day of Thanks #15

I am thankful for the gift of my sweet two-and-a-half-year-old, Thomas Eaton.  He makes messes, and shouts "NO", and doesn't listen.  But, he melts my heart when he grabs my face to give me a big smooch on the cheek, and when I exclaim my happiness, he continues to kiss in between sweet murmurs of "Love you, Mama."  Ah, bliss.

I know he is mine, but this kid is CUTE:

Day of Thanks #14

I am thankful for my Spirit FM mobile app and Pandora; both allow me to listen to music I enjoy.  Sometimes it is the little things that bless our days.

Days of Thanks #9-12

Oops, I fell behind again...
Day #9  Thankful for grace, shown daily through my Savior, family, and friends.
Day #10 Thankful football season is over.  It is fun while it lasts, but I am glad to have my husband back for a while...at least until baseball pre-season begins.  :)
Day #11 Thankful for our college class at church.  I love hearing their feedback and learning more about their walks with Christ.
Day #12 Thankful for my Daddy, who turns 75 today.  He is truly a man after God's own heart, and I am blessed to be his daughter.

Day of Thanks #8

I am thankful for Fall.  I love the cooler weather, and the air of anticipation as the holidays draw near.  Each time the seasons change, I am reminded of God's power in His creation.  I am so glad that He is constantly at work changing me, too.

Day of Thanks #5

Today, I am thankful for my job...it is sometimes stressful, but I am grateful for the opportunity to work from home so I can experience this precious time with our youngest.

Day of Thanks #4

On November 4th, I was thanking God for our church...a true FAMILY of believers.  We are so blessed...

Day of Thanks #3

Late to post again, but on November 3rd...I was specifically thankful for the way our two older children are willing to take a stand for their faith.  This is not to say that they never make mistakes (after all, who doesn't?), but I am thankful they are trying to serve the Lord in their lives on a daily basis.

Day of Thanks #2

I am sure you were underwhelmed by my first day of thanks, but hopefully today will be more inspiring.  I am thankful for God's provision in my life...food, clothing, shelter.  He always provides more than just the basics, too...a kiss from my husband, an unexpected hug from our daughter, a laugh courtesy of our funny 12-year-old son, giggles from our sweet two-year-old boy, or encouragement from my parents.

Day of Thanks #1

I know this is a day late, but I never got around to posting yesterday.  I was practicing being thankful in all circumstances, though, so I tried to be thankful for my old decrepit computer (circa 2006).  It must be an instrument through which God is teaching me patience, so I choose to be thankful.
